Reds win at home

Written by Rev

The Thornhill Reds got four RBI performances from Kravice Batts and Gianfranco Morello, and beat the Pickering Red Sox 9-4 at Bishops Cross Park on Wednesday night.

Dan Lehmkuhl(3-0) allowed two runs over six innings of work for the win, while Mack Major fired the final three innings for his second save. The Reds jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a two out bases clearing double off the bat of right fielder Kravice Batts, who finished with a couple of hits, driving in four. Rookie Gianfranco Morello also joined the attack, adding a couple of hits, including a two run double, which aided his four RBI effort.

Brad Binns(1-1) took the loss after a quality start that saw him pitch into the seventh inning, keeping Reds hitters off balance for most of the evening. Steve Correia had his first home run of the year for Pickering, who were led at the plate by Jesse Dynes and Sean Molony who had a pair of hits each.

Vaughan tournament washed out

Written by Rev

After losing Friday night's late games, and dealing with a slate of rain all day Saturday, the 2017 Vaughan Senior Tournament was cancelled late Saturday afternoon.

Teams will receive refunds, and hopefully some better weather for this next stretch of the summer.
