The Thornhill Reds went 3-0 on championship weekend, and took home the 2022 GTBL Championship and Alex Stanley Memorial Trophy.

Opening with an 11-1 win against the shorthanded Newmarket Hawks, the Reds cruised comfortably into Saturday. Mack Major pitched the Reds past the top seeded Kendal Eagles 3-2 in the winners bracket, and Thornhill moved to Sunday needing to be beaten twice. Chadwick Cameron would take the ball against the streaking East York Bulldogs who eliminated Leaside two games to none to qualify for the weekend, and then upset the Kendal Eagles Saturday afternoon for the right to play for the GTBL crown. It took a five run sixth for the Reds to prevail for the 6-4 clinching win, after both Cameron (CG W) and Adam Garner for East York turned in excellent starts. The Reds have now won five GTBL titles over the past eight seasons, congratulations to Coach Revin and Thornhill on another fine season and playoff performance. Full weekend results below.

For the second time in his excellent senior career, Argenis Paz of the Thornhill Reds was named the Playoff MVP after helping lead the Reds to the title. Thornhill's shortstop hit .375 over the three games, driving in five runs with three extra base hits. Besides the usual defense, the middle infielder scored four runs and also swiped three bases. Paz was the first Red to touch the Alex Stanley Trophy as he accepted it on behalf of his teammates, he has been a part of all five recent Reds GTBL Championships.
